As time goes on the original title for this blog has changed. Still greatly influenced by my Dak'Art trip to attend the Dak'Art Biennial 2006, I continue my practice with the strength the journey gave me.
I make artworks, using painting, drawing, mixed media and multi media installation. My work draws on my personal experience as a black woman of mixed-race, and confronts issues of race, culture and identity. I work in community arts with all age groups. My recent studio practice has turned towards environmental issues and uses recycled materials for this purpose.
The Albatross project continues. Many thanks to all those who eagerly collected bottle tops, and would still be if I didn't put a holt to it. I have several bucket loads now, preserved and saved from pollution the environment, ready to evolve into artworks with a message.Labels: Marine Debris
